The Beehive Hairhouse is located on the second floor of the historic Bee
Hive building. It's the Beehive's goal to provide guests with great hair
and a well-deserved break in their day. While listening to good music and
sipping complementary beverages ... our guests relax while watching New
York catwalk fashions on 60" plasma screens or flipping through the
latest in european magazines. The contemporary decor combined with Walla
Walla's antique accents are flanked by the latest in cutting edge salon
equipment. This second story loacation boasts original hardwood floors and
arched, 12 foot windows offering natural light and a voyeuristic view of
Walla Walla's busiest intersection ... all the while retaining your privacy
in salon. The Beehive Hairhouse is locally owned and fulfilled a lifelong
dream for owner Gail, with it's opening in the summer of 2000.
The Beehive houses nine full time Hairstylists with two of them daughters,
Kyle and Kate. Though the original Bee Hive was a popular general store
for 80 years, it closed it's doors in the mid '70's. The current Beehive
Hairhouse brought back the namesake with a twist ... drawing inspiration
from a famous hairstyle ... the Beehive! To capitalize on the beehive era,
large hair and fashion advertisement artwork fills the space from period
magazines; Look, Life, The Post and Playboy. Before the general store, local
historians say the building held more than bolts of fabric and finery. During
the turn of the century, this location was known to house "ladies of
the night". Thus the second part or our name ... "Hairhouse"
... Dare we say the
"best little Hairhouse in town" ...
